Monitor Launches New Risk Management Course

Aberdeen-based Monitor has launched a new risk management training course to complement its established portfolio of project management related products and services.
The first Risk Mitigation course is scheduled to take place on the 23-24th of June 2009 and is already attracting interest from several of the areas leading oil and gas companies.
Alison Haig of Monitor said: "All organisations have a need to examine risk; business risk; financial risk; project risk and reputational risk to name but a few. Successful companies are those that manage risk and recognise the opportunities that risks can present.
"Our approach to risk management skills development provides delegates with a systematic approach, but more importantly also shows and enables individuals to think laterally in terms of risk within the project environment."
At the end of the two day course candidates will have the skills to carry out formal project risk management procedures and contribute to the overall risk management strategy within their organisation.
Alison continued: "All too often companies view risk as a threat, rather than an opportunity. Success generally comes from taking smart risks and we want to encourage companies to review their strategies, taking risk into account, so they can make the most of the opportunities that come their way.
"Managing risk effectively requires a distinct set of skills and shouldn't be left to chance. This course will help decision makers choose the most appropriate course of action by giving them a better understanding of how to anticipate the possible outcomes."
